DAY TWO- PRACTICAL AND THEORY
1) IPL and Laser Hair for Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation
How IPL and Laser works on the ‘hair growth cycle’ to destroy it- Understand the hair growth cycle percentage for specific target areas to be treated
What is Skin Rejuvenation- Superficial fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentary lesions and deep furrows, skin tightening, collagen synthesis and elastin production, solar lentigo.
Terminology- Noevi, Hyper-pigmentation, Hypo-pigmentation, Melasma, Blue Naevus, Congenital Naevi, Melanoma, Age Spots, Freckles, Moles, Skin tags, Telangiectasia, vascular lesions, nevus flammeus, Spider Nevi, Red Capillaries, Varicose Veins, Becker Malanosis .
Treatment Parameters- Identifying the right condition, machine setting and course duration for each student
GP Letter and Referral- When to refer to the GP
2) Related Anatomy and Physiology-
Hair Growth Cycle, and Dimension of a Hair
The Integumentary System- The 5 layers of the Epidermis, Functions of the Skin, Diagram of a cross-section of the skin (Draw and Label), The 3 layers of the Skin, Related Disorders.
3) Practical Application
Students get to practice safely on specific treatment areas.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Upon completion of the 2 Days of Practical and Theory, Students will be asked to complete relevant Home-Study to include a written assignment along with ‘Case Studies’. Students who do not have access to an IPL/Laser machine can request attendance in further practical lesson at the ILTA (subject to availability).
Once the written assignment has been marked and uopn completion of the Portfolio, a student will be invited in to complete their Assessments. They will need to be marked ‘Competent’ for ALL of them in order to PASS. If the student is deemed not ‘Competent’ they will be asked to further practice and return once they have reached the level of proficiency required.
